About Us

Founded by James Mack in 2015, started with a clear vision and a deep passion for the art of tattooing. What began as James’s solo venture has grown into a top destination for tattoo enthusiasts, thanks to the incredible skill and dedication of its artists. Each team member brings years of experience and a unique style, mastering their craft through continuous innovation. Their artistry and technical expertise make them some of the best in the business, focused on delivering specialised, high-quality tattoos.

The name “Whitefox” has a special meaning, rooted in the story of Skye, a rescue dog who became a beloved part of the studio. James found Skye early in his career, and her friendly nature made her an endearing presence in the studio. She greeted every client with warmth and quickly became a symbol of the welcoming, personal touch that defines Whitefox Tattoo Studio. Skye’s spirit continues to inspire the studio’s commitment to creating exceptional, meaningful art for each client.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an appointment necessary?

Appointments are not required, but they are highly recommended. While we welcome walk-ins whenever possible, availability can vary from day to day. For custom or large-scale designs, booking an appointment ensures that our artists have the time to create a tattoo tailored just for you. We also prefer to conduct face-to-face consultations when possible, which are always free of charge. Please note that a deposit is required to secure all appointments.

How much will my tattoo cost?

Tattoo costs vary based on the size, complexity, and the artist’s experience. Our starting price is R750. For more detailed pricing, we offer half-day and full-day rates: R3500 for a half-day, and R6000 for a full-day session. For a precise quote tailored to your design, we recommend discussing your ideas with us directly.

Can you fix or cover an existing tattoo?

Yes, we can help with cover-ups and tattoo repairs. Bring your existing tattoo and ideas to the studio for a consultation.

Does it hurt?

Pain levels can vary depending on the location and size of the tattoo. Our artists will do their best to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Can I drink alcohol before I get tattooed?

We advise against drinking alcohol before your appointment. Alcohol can thin your blood, which may increase bleeding and affect the healing process.

Is it safe?

Absolutely. We prioritize hygiene and follow stringent protocols to ensure a safe tattooing experience. Our studio maintains the highest standards of cleanliness and uses sterilized equipment. While we take every precaution to prevent infection, it’s crucial to follow our aftercare instructions carefully to ensure proper healing.

James

I have been tattooing for over 10 years. I started my career in KwaZulu-Natal, and have now tattooed all across South Africa and abroad, learning from many different artists in various styles along the way. My preferred styles of tattooing are Neotraditonal, Japanese or black and gray realism, but most people know me for the large-scale back pieces and sleeves I create. If you are looking for a large tattoo in colour or black and gray, I’m your guy.

Matthew

I’ve been tattooing for 6 years, and can tattoo almost anything that comes my way, but my passion and speciality lie in bright and bold colour tattoos. Specifically anime, manga, gaming and cartoon style pieces. Will accept tips in the form of pizza.

Richard

My name is Richard, I hail from the Eastern Cape. I’ve been tattooing professionally now for just over 12 years. I grew up with a strong love for dark fantasy, scifi, grunge and horror which has inspired my love of black and grey realism and cross hatched imagery when it comes to preferred styles of tattooing, but I love applying myself to any given style to make your vision come to life.

Rheza

Newschool, Colour Tattoos
I’m Rheza, I specialise in both vibrant colour and black and gray work. Whether it’s a flash tattoo or a large-scale masterpiece, I’ve got you covered! Traditional, Neotraditional, Neojapanese and Newschool is where I thrive. Currently on a mission to tattoo some funky unicorns and immortalise your beloved pets through unique and personalised portraits in any style.

Wiecus

I am an apprentice artist, working towards a specialty in traditional style tattoos. If you have any tattoo regrets or in the market for a cover up, I also do laser tattoo removal. Come and have a look at my available artworks.
